What is the Best Gaming Keyboard?
There's little doubt that a well-designed keyboard can give you an edge. Responsive keys, good ergonomics and even backlighting can all make a difference to how well you react to the challenges presented by your favourite games. However, one aspect that's often overlooked amid the plethora of features and gimmicks is the level of comfort your keyboard offers.
We've had some shocking peripherals arrive in the
Custom PC/bit-tech lab over the years that would probably put you off gaming completely. This isn't to say that all features are useless, though, and some of the many gaming keyboards we've looked at recently have some genuinely useful additions.
To start with we'll be looking at our current favourite gaming keyboard, but as time progresses, we'll be adding to this article, highlighting the cream of the crop that we've come across and comparing other keyboards we look at with these giants of the gaming world.

How we test
There are a number of factors to consider when reviewing a keyboard. They're all different as some are designed to be simple, no-nonsense frag machines, while others are gear towards MMO fans and the like, with a plethora of macro buttons, customisable keysets and media controls.
We look at each feature in turn to see how useful and more importantly, usable it is. By far and away the most important factor is comfort. If a keyboard gives you wrist strain or is generally unpleasant to use, it's as good as a chocolate oven, so the comfort score adds heavily to the overall score.
